I am Gary Spiers, The Instructor of Kuraido Karate I am 33 years old and have been training since I was 10 years old. I began my training under Sensei's Bill Stott and Alex Locke of the Onamido & Sankukai karate association based in Coatbridge where I trained until I was 23 and attained the grade of 2nd Dan. I then trained under Sensei Andy Coyle who as well as being a good friend became the main influence behind my karate training and August 2004 I was awarded my 3rd Dan by Shihan Greg Wallace, Sensei John Riley and Sensei Andy Coyle. I would like to take the time to thank those who have influenced my training over the years, My special thanks to Sensei's Andy Coyle, John Riley and Bill Stott for their guidence and advice since my training began and Sensei Frank Watson for his patience during Kobudo training in Airdrie. The club was born 4 years ago when I happened to make a passing comment to a friend that I was looking for a dojo closer to home, a few phonecalls later and that passing comment became a reality. The rest as they say is history. The name Kuraido comes from the Japanese translation for the word "Clyde", and as we are based in Clydebank I could think of no better name,
